About

We close the gap between the evidence and the practice.

Decades of research establish resistance training as the primary prevention for sarcopenia. Most Canadians at risk have no access to safe, structured, affordable programs. We fix that.

Mission

To prevent sarcopenia before it begins.

Jasclair Wellness Institute exists to make the evidence on healthy aging accessible — and actionable — for Canadian adults 55–70: the population most likely to benefit from primary prevention, and least likely to be served by commercial fitness.

We pursue this through three activities: public education and plain-language research summaries on muscle health and aging; awareness of sarcopenia as a preventable, under-recognized condition; and free, virtual 12-week cohort programs that turn the evidence into a guided, coach-led practice — live group sessions, structured home training, and a peer community.

Our model is built for grant-eligible delivery — measurable outcomes, transparent governance, and program substance that extends beyond any single technology partner.

Why an NPO

The NPO model lets JWI focus on beneficiary outcomes rather than subscription growth. It enables grant funding, in-kind partnerships, and trust from the public health community in ways a commercial entity cannot access.

Legal structure

Jasclair Wellness Institute is incorporated under the Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act (CNCA) as a federal non-profit corporation. We are not a registered charity and cannot issue charitable tax receipts.

Governance

JWI is governed by a board of directors independent of any commercial entity. Our bylaws, board composition, and incorporation details are publicly available.

Advisory board

Grounded in the evidence.

Our advisory board brings together researchers, health professionals, and community leaders with expertise in aging, physical activity, and muscle health. Advisors are introduced on this page as each relationship is confirmed and disclosed.

Our program design is informed by the evidence base of McMaster University's muscle and exercise research program — one of the world's leading centres for aging and resistance training science.

Principles

Evidence first

Every program decision traces to peer-reviewed research. We do not adopt interventions because they are popular; we adopt them because they work.

Transparent governance

Our financials, board composition, partnership terms, and program outcomes are publicly available. Funders and participants deserve full visibility.

Genuine additionality

We serve a population that commercial fitness does not. Our programs deliver real substance — not a wrapper around a product — and our outcomes prove it.
